Survey data were collected from 97 adults, drawn from clinical and community settings, who identified themselves as growing up in dysfunctional families. Constructs from object relations, self psychology, and attachment theory were used to select criterion measures. Although the level of family dysfunction was generally high, no significant differences were observed between adult children of alcoholics and adults from families whose dysfunction was not due to substance abuse. Degree of family dysfunction was significantly associated with internalized shame, object relations deficits, and presence of addictions and emotional problems. Contrary to expectation, family dysfunction was negatively correlated with 2 self psychology constructs: goal instability and superiority. The study suggests that clinical interventions based on object relations and attachment theories may be particularly useful with adult children from dysfunctional families. The melt spinning of nylon 6 filament yarns was studied by measuring the filament tensions at the takeup roll, the filament temperatures θ(x), filament diameters d(x), and birefringence Δn(x) as functions of distance x from the spinneret, and by observing how the molecular orientation was affected by these differences in cooling and thinning. Results were as follows: The thinning of the filament line, d(x), is affected little by the spinning temperature or by the degree of polymerization of the yarns taken up; it however depends heavily on the takeup speed VTu and the rate Q of production. Trouton viscosity β(T) as a temperature function derived from these experiments on nylon 6 is expressed consistently by the equation β ? 0.34 exp (3250/T), where T is absolute temperature. Nylon 6 filaments exhibit higher Trouton viscosity values than polyester or polypropylene filaments under the same spinning temperature. Filament temperature θ(x) versus distance x agreed well with theoretical values. The speed of molecular orientation was highest in the temperature range from 120°C to 40°C (the latter being the glass transition temperature of nylon 6). Furthermore, the larger the time rate of polymer deformation and the longer the residence time of polymer in the above temperature range, the higher was the orientation of the filament yarns taken up.  相似文献

Although each author attempts to contextualize this traditional conception, many of their explanations reveal that the underlying problem remains. A 69-year-old Japanese female was admitted because of general fatigue. Laboratory data showed elevation of serum total bilirubin, transaminase, gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase, and creatinine levels. An immunological study revealed hypergammaglobulinemia, low titer of complement, and high titers of antinuclear antibody, anti-DNA antibody, and circulating immune complexes. Antibodies to parainfluenza virus 3 were positive. Histology of the liver disclosed numerous giant cell hepatocyte transformations with the lobular architecture being slightly distorted by portal inflammation and fibrosis. These findings led us to make a diagnosis of giant cell hepatitis associated with systemic lupus erythematosus. Prednisolone was effective in improving the anemia and the serum immunoglobulin, immune complex, and antinuclear antibody levels. The addition of cyclosporine to the initial corticosteroid therapy was also beneficial in decreasing the transaminase level and in improving liver histology. The patient died of acute pneumonitis and renal failure on the 166th day after admission. Parainfluenza virus 3 and autoimmune mechanisms were thus considered to be the causes of the giant cell hepatitis.  相似文献

AlGaAs/GaAs collector-up heterojunction bipolar transistors (HBTs) with a heavily carbon-doped base layer were fabricated using oxygen-ion implantation and zinc diffusion. The high resistivity of the oxygen-ion-implanted AlGaAs layer in the external emitter region effectively suppressed electron injection from the emitter, allowing collector current densities to reach values above 105 A/cm 2. For a transistor with a 2-μm×10-μm collector, fT was 70 GHz and fmax was as high as 128 GHz. It was demonstrated by on-wafer measurements that the first power performance of collector-up HBTs resulted in a maximum power-added efficiency of as high as 63.4% at 3 GHz  相似文献

The authors report the successful fabrication of InP/InGaAs double-heterojunction bipolar transistors (DHBTs) grown by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) on Si substrates. The Si substrates used were p-type (boron doped) FZ grown wafers with a resistivity of 5000 Ω×cm, oriented 2° off the (100) plane toward the [110] direction. Epitaxial layers for DHBTs were grown on the Si substrate with a thin GaAs buffer layer. A two-step growth process was applied for the InP layers on GaAs-on-Si wafers. The transistors exhibit high current gains over 200, which is comparable to those in transistors grown on InP substrates. The dislocations are found to increase the recombination current very little in the neutral base region, but increase in generation-recombination current at the emitter-base interface  相似文献

This paper describes the characteristics of ZnMgSSe, which is a material suitable for the cladding layer of a blue-laser diode. A blue-laser diode was operated at room temperature at a wavelength of 480 nm, and the lifetime of the continuous-wave operation of the II–VI LD was over 3 min. We surveyed 358 counseling psychology students in 10 APA-accredited programs with regard to change in research interest and (a) research training environment, (b) J. L. Holland (1978) personality type, and (c) environment-personality interactions. Investigative and Investigative-Artistic students had the highest interest in research. Enterprising interests were related to lower levels of research interest and delay in completing training. Programs identified in a previous study as having the greatest positive impact on research interest were found in the current study to also select students with more Investigative interests. Environment, person (Holland type), and some person–environment interactions were all predictive of increased research interest, but person variables were the strongest predictors.
